Role boundaries

Decide the job before day one.

Office and pantry questions

What office admins usually ask us before they start.

What does an office boy do?

An office assistant, often called an office boy, handles tea and water rounds, meeting-room setup, document and file runs, courier drop-offs, photocopying and small errands. The exact duties are agreed with you before the start date.

What's the difference between an office assistant and a pantry attendant?

A pantry attendant looks after the pantry: tea and coffee, water, washing up and keeping it clean. An office assistant moves around the floor: meetings, documents and errands. Smaller offices often combine both in one role.

Can we set their working hours?

Yes. Working hours and days are agreed with you, to match how your office runs.

Do you supply tea, coffee and pantry consumables?

Who supplies consumables is agreed with you before the start date. Tell us what your office already has.

What if they're absent?

Under the Rayat Standard, absent staff are replaced within 24 hours, and any day we can’t cover comes off your bill.

Can office staff also do cleaning?

Light cleaning, such as keeping the pantry clean, can be written into the duties. For cleaning of the whole floor, see our housekeeping services.
